CORONARY CARE UNIT (CCU) 

The CCU was established in 2006 as a part of the Fabiani & Budhrani Heart Institute and remains an integral part of the support system. The unit is limited to twelve acute beds for a near personalised attention and has an extension of a separate step down unit.

In the CCU we care for patients with potentially life-threatening cardiac conditions including: acute coronary syndromes, cardiac arrhythmias, acute congestive heart failure, and patients pre/post interventional cardiac procedures / surgeries.

CCU remains the back bone of emergency Cardiac Care – being equipped with the stat of the art equipment, a round the clock Physicians cover along with residents and trained Nursing Staff as per international norms.

We provide care to patients who have undergone procedures in the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory as well for patients post cardiac surgeries. These procedures include Angiography, Percutaneous Coronary Intervention (PCI), Implantable Cardiac Defibrillator Implantation and Temporary/Permanent Pacemaker Implantation. Surgeries include Open Heart Surgeries, Valve replacements.

Our acute cardiology beds are for patients suffering from acute and chronic cardiac problems requiring intensive cardiac medical and nursing management. Patients include those classified as high risk for acute coronary syndrome, myocardial infarction, and life- threatening cardiac rhythm disturbances.

We provide both hardwire and wireless cardiac monitoring using telemetry units. We have the facility to undertake invasive hemodynamic monitoring, non-invasive ventilation (NIV) and intra aortic balloon pumping (IABP) as required. The Coronary Care Unit also has two beds where haemodialysis can be performed on renal patients requiring cardiac monitoring.

The unit also remains the pitch for improving practical training to students pursuing the Post Graduate Cardiology courses being run by certain overseas Universities.
